The moment that introduced me to the nuns of the college of Maria, in Valledolmo, it goes up again to when I was still child. The occasion could not miss, note, for the respectful friendly and religious relationships that subsisted among the nuns with my parents and family everybody. Those nuns and this new presence of nuns of the Congregation Of the Sacred Family, has not made even me recede to confirm appreciations and due recognitions. Who speaks to me of God and from any pulpit, provided that it shows to love the next one and to adore God, will be confirmed in the shrine of my spiritual affirmations and humanly coherent.

Our Institute, called today Congregation of the "Nuns Collegine of the Sacred Family" it is born in 1700, a period upset by the continuous wars in Europe and "illuminated" from the ideas of renewal that aim to resolve the problems of the man with the alone lights of the reason. In this period the Church suffers for the intervention of the sovereigns in the religious business and the people he/she lives in the deepest poverty, submitted to every type of injustice. In this context of deep inequity I am really the poor (and ignorant) girls, become often precociously mothers to be alone and abandoned to if same.

It was the Cardinal Pier Marcellino Corradini to found the institute of the "Boarders of the Sacred Family" so that in it you/they were instructed and prepared to the life the poor and ignorant girls of his/her city native Sezze.

The 26 July of 1717, party of S. Ann, with the help of Father Valley, took place the rite of the Vestizione Religiosa of the first group of young nuns.

Pier Marcellino Corradini was born to Sezze (Lazio) the 2 June of 1658 from a family of noble surname. To the death of his/her/their father it inherited rights and noble titles that however surrendered to the 32 year-old age to his/her/their brother Ottaviano to answer to the call of God.

His to operate for the poor men was not that humiliating of the alms, on the contrary that of the "to help the man to help." To such purpose it realized to Frascati a Bank destined to help the poor men. It died the 8 February of 1743 to the 85 year-old age. Its corpse is found in the Basilica of S. Maria in Trastevere in Rome.

The revolutionary idea of the Corradini for that times was in the fact that the nuns had to not have monastic seclusion, but you/they had to go out and to look for the young girl for the roads.

In Sicily, where the material and moral poverty was great of other parts of Italy, the work of the Corradini it was more necessary than elsewhere. And it is here that today the greatest number is still assembled of "Maria's Colleges." The first College of Maria in Sicily was that of Olivella (Palermo), risen the 16 September of 1721 for work of Don Charles Vanni.

In the arc of the over 280 years from his/her foundation, the institute has lived difficult moments, marked by struggles and by victories.

Today the Congregation counts 59 Communities: 57 in Italy (all in Sicily, to exception of the Roman center of the College of Maria and the Community Collegine in Rome) and 2 to the foreign countries. From 1980 our Institute is over the confinements of Italy. And' in Africa, to Iringa, in Zaire and in England to Enfield (northerly in London), and it is hoped to subsequently widen the presence Collegina in the world.
